Growing the power and influence of people who draw on social care is central to Social Care Future’s vision and strategy. Our movement members and partners are coming together in many ways to grow and use this power at every level, from the person or family trying to build a good life, to influencing local services and systems and changing national policy and the public story of social care.

How can you help?

Guidance for event organisers

Over the next few months, with Think Local Act Personal, we are developing a guide for event organisers to help them co-produce their conferences, workshops and events and to properly include people who draw on support as speakers, facilitators and delegates. As a first step we are looking for people to tell us about the key issues for organisers to take into account, examples of people doing it well and about practical approaches, policies, tools and resources for possible inclusion in the guide.  Please get in touch at socialcarefuture@gmail.com

Connecting to voices that need to be heard

We are building a connection page for events organisers, publication editors, news media and others to connect with a diverse range of people who draw on social care to live their lives.  If you are interested in joining our database of speakers and contributors please contact admin@in-control.org.uk for further details.

Skills and knowledge workshops

With support from the National Lottery Community Fund, our host organisation In Control is leading an initiative to build regional and national networks that support older and disabled people who draw on social care to grow connections, knowledge, skills and tactics via peer support development sessions and workshops.  We hope that these will cover framing and storytelling, media training, writing for publications, campaigning, community organising and network building. We are also gathering practical resources for people to draw on which we will share via a new part of our website.  Can you recommend and/or connect us with great people, organisations and resources to include or contribute to this programme? Please drop us a line at socialcarefuture@gmail.com

Alone we are smart, together we are brilliant!

We are hosting a network to unite organisations of people who draw on social care that share the #SocialCareFuture vision to create an amplified joint voice on key issues. If an organisation you know or are connected to would like to join this network to work together for change, please get in touch at socialcarefuture@gmail.com
