SUMMARY:Practice Support for Cost Benefit Analysis of Strengths Based Early Action
DESCRIPTION:Members attending the Early Action and Asset-Based theme sessions have responded very positively to inputs from Jon and Joe and their academic colleagues at Hull and Sheffield. Many have asked for deeper follow up advice. Following on from the sessions earlier this year\, SCF is delighted to be partnering further with the Universities of Hull and Sheffield during 2026 to support members in better evidencing the outcomes and impacts of their strengths-based prevention programmes. \nFunded by the Higher Education Innovation Fund (HEIF) through the University of Hull\, this collaboration will offer SCF members training and support to implement the team’s unique and innovative model for evidencing and evaluating these initiatives. \nOver a period of seven months\, a small cohort of members will be invited to take part in a free practice-focused series of training sessions led by the research team\, equipping them to apply the model in their own local context. These sessions will be supplemented with online drop-ins offering one-to-one advice. Information from the workshop sessions/tools related to the model will also be made available to any SCF members who are interested\, but not part of the training cohort. After this period\, learnings and outcomes from the programme will be shared more widely to help positively shape local and national social care policy and strategy. \nThis is a very exciting opportunity for SCF members to learn how to demonstrate the value of strengths-based working in an effective\, accurate and sustainable manner. Ideally\, cohort participants will: \n● already be working in a strengths-based manner across several initiatives \n● already be collecting both qualitative and quantitative data on the impact of these initiatives \n● be able to release (where possible\, the same) staff to attend six half-day online workshops between January and July 2026 \n● have the capacity and motivation to apply the team’s model to their own strengths-based initiatives\, drawing on support from the team as required \n● be willing and able to reflect back to the team about the training\, the model’s implementation and any insights generated \n● be committed to helping SCF and the research team feed learning from the project into local and national policy thinking \nFor those interested in finding out more\, we will be running an introductory session to the project on January 13th 1-2pm.
